As much as I need action I also need rest…

I love this time of year for getting cozy with Josh. There are so many things I look forward to when we get into bed. First the repositioning of a lot of pillows, then the warmth we create immediately fills the air between us and all around.

I like how we struggle a little, poke one another with an elbow by mistake, or nudge too hard. That tiny discomfort reminds me of the relaxation technique where you make your body extremely tense and rigid for a few moments, then let it all go. I think of our first few minutes in bed like that - once we find our positions and settle in, the relaxation comes, bringing cozy holds and the feeling of complementing one another’s shape. Our classic teenage refuge spooning still feels so good to me.

There is a lot to look forward to this season.

My sister will fly up from Florida for my mom’s memorial hike. We’ll go apple picking more than once, pick pumpkins, and I’ll start decorating my porch for Halloween. I’ll also rewatch The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina—because it makes me happy.

I want to channel some “lock down, Netflix and chill, hibernating” energy. Between fun events already carved into my calendar, I want to spend most of my time in slippers and wear my mom’s bathrobe for large portions of the day.

I can’t wait to see our beautiful maple tree start to turn. I know it will hold out and make me truly wait, but when it does change, it will be breathtaking.

It’s cozy season - and I need it’s recharge and the downtime.
